D.C.

After Christmas, Mike drove us to visit his uncle and wife in D.C. They had a baby last December. We were really there to play with the baby. This 1 year-old is super cute and fun. His name is Jeff and has an attention span of a little dog. We were at the playground and he spent like 5 seconds in each part. He wouldn't stop moving! He is in a day care/preschool that only speaks Spanish and he only speaks Spanish when he's there! I've heard him say "agua" and "leche" (water and milk). He was also delighted by bubbles -- he screamed "bubbles!" every time we blew bubbles from the bubble wand :)

Jeff naps and cries a lot, and Mike wondered how his parents knew when he was hungry or sleepy. I responded that they make a routine/schedule for him! Duh! But seriously though, I don't know... babies are weird sometimes.

We also had a baking day when Mike's sisters made sugar cookies and these Oreo and cream cheese balls covered in chocolate. I helped mix the colors for the frosting and save the chocolate for the Oreo balls -- it kept seizing and his sister didn't know how to salvage it. With Mike's suggestion, we added some butter and a ton of half-and-half cream. Saved!

Decorating the cookies. No pic of the Oreo balls though doh! They were really sweet... I don't think I would make or eat them again.

Organizing the trip was a hassle and the rain during the drive made it worse. So I don't think we'll be doing this again. While I'm happy about that, I'm also a little sad that I won't be playing with Jeff for a while. I guess they'll just have to come to Philadelphia next Christmas hah.
