View on the Brooklyn Bridge
J’s brother is visiting and since he’s been to NYC a few times already, he wanted to see the less touristy sides of the city. We planned to take the ferry to governors island but unfortunately it’s not open yet. So we explored Brooklyn Bridge Park, grabbed lunch at Shake Shack, and then walked on the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. The weather was bipolar - sweltering during the day and nippy in the late afternoon - but overall it was a beautiful day.
Shake Shack's Cherry Blossom Shake - a vanilla frozen custard with cherry blossom syrup topped with pink chocolate swirls. I didn't see what was so cherry blossom about this and it was waaay too sweet for me
Bacon double cheeseburger that turned out to be too much even fro two people
Cheese fries, always a must
J just bought a killer new portrait lens, and I love all the photos he took... of me haha.
After walking over the bridge, J and I went to a mutual friends house to play board games. This is a group I reserve just for board games because they’re 30 years old who act like they’re still 20 years old. What I mean by that is they still go clubbing and they drink till they pass out; I’m an old lady who needs to be in bed by 10pm to be fully functional the next day. I need my beauty sleep.
Anyway, I had to fly for work Sunday evening which is a HUGE bummer, but J made it work - he helped me with all the domestic stuff, made me feel supported, and made sure I could be included in his late lunch / early dinner with his brother. We went to Tacombi on Bleecker Street; it’s one of my favorite Mexican restaurants because they have the.best.esquites.EVER. J and I ordered two of them. Oh no we’re not sharing. Then we ended our meal with gelato at Grom. It was packed, which was expected given the beautiful day.
Then I was off to the airport, which I must say again TOTALLY SUCKED.
