Aside from feeling extremely guilty for eating out way too often these last few weeks, I am having a blast reconnecting with old friends. Here are a few new places I tried recently around the city...
The Horny Ram --> bottomless brunch. Deal is sealed. Seriously though... the crazy story behind this is my cousin got matched with my girlfriend from middle school on a dating app, and, recognizing each other, my cousin asked if I wanted to reconnect. What a small world! We have not seen each other in years and needless to say we had a lot to catch up on. And we plan to see our other middle school friends! Since we were so focused on our conversation, we had our food (chicken and waffles, and M&M pancakes) cold, which I imagine would be much better when it is warm! Bottomless drinks are the standard mimosa, bloody mary, and bellini... and is totally affordable.
by CHLOE. Flatiron --> vegan food is actually not bad! Unsurprisingly, it is pricey. I tried their pesto meatball sub, fries, and a few bites of my cousin's mac and cheese (with shitake [fake] bacon). Everything tasted really good, and I could not tell that it was not meat... okay, I lied, you can tell, but it still tastes good!
The Stumble Inn --> I started volunteering as a mentor at Minds Matter!! Since I was a mentee in the program many moons ago, I am psyched to be on the other side and inspire kids the same way I was. After our first training, we all went to the scheduled happy hour. Call me whatever you want, but I do not go to places like this anymore - when I arrived with my group at 4pm, it was jam packed and LOUD - I waited 20-30 minutes to get a drink, people stood and talked on top of each other, and speakers pounded R&B music. I felt like I was in college again, and I am not about that anymore... I prefer quiet, chill, lounge-y places now, and being at The Stumble Inn was just plain stressful. With that said, it is so damn cheap! We got a pitcher of Blue Moon and tater tots (which are delicious by the way) for $17! Between 4 people, that is less than $5 each!!
Mr Moustache --> I was introduced to this coffee shop by HK, who needed a place to work on her law school applications. This is a great place to do your work. It is quiet, small, and cozy. Their coffee is alright to me, but their avocado toast is amazing. Honestly, I would go back just to eat that.
