Michigan in the summer

Taking the stairs to the beach

So we drove the 12 hours to Michigan (and the 12 hours back to Philadelphia) and we stayed in their uncle's Lake House. It was a fantastic getaway!! The house is right next to a private beach and we went there a few times during our 7-day stay. The beach is disappearing and one night, the water completely washed away the sand that connected the stairs to the beach, and we had to literally jump over rocks to get down there.

Meal on our first day - steaks, veggies and potato salad

We cooked a lot. Like everyday. It was nice because the whole family was there and we all took turns making breakfast. For dinner, one person would prep, a few of us would form a team and make one dish, someone would be grilling... and someone else would be entertaining haha. Mike's family looooves meat, and it has always been a continental breakfast until Mike called for something healthier one morning so we're not shitting bricks everyday. And we got some yogurt, granola mix, fruit, cereal and pancake mix. NO MEAT.

Healthy

His sister made these really cute tiny pancakes one morning

The last two meals were the most memorable because it was pizza and taco night! We made 4 pizza pies - supreme, meatlovers, extra tomato sauce and cheese, and cherry tomato and ham. My faves were the last two! On taco night, me and one of Mike's sister made guacamole while Mike made the ground beef. Others were making beans, corn, rice, grilling steaks, toasting tortillas, or chopping vegetables. It was sooo much fun hanging with everyone and making food just the way we like it.

My favorite - extra sauce and cheese!

My second favorite - cherry tomato, ham and green stuff on top (our 'healthy' choice)

Lots of meat for taco night. Mike made the ground beef and it was soooo yum!

We were definitely stuffed to the max. We ate until we were full everyday. Aside from food, we also went out during the day. One activity a day they called it: we went go karting, mini-golfing, bumper boats, sand dunes, shopping, kayaking, and on the last day, we just relaxed!!

The sand dunes are surprisingly nice. Not brown, sandy and desolate like I imagined.

Goof

The ride back was okay. We stopped at Pittsburgh because his sister is starting college at U of Pitt! We only stayed until she was moved in and we jetted out of there. We were so ready to finish driving and be home. I've only been to Michigan in the winter for Thanksgiving so I was surprised by how nice and the number of things we could do in the summer. I hope to back again next summer!

See ya!
