So I've been debating whether to tell you about my trip by what we did each day or just the most memorable parts. I think I'll do both!
We had a plan for what we were going to do each day, but it changed a bit because we're speed demons at sight seeing. And we wandered a lot and somehow just ended up where we were going to later in the trip.
Here was our final itinerary:
Day 1: River Seine, Bastille District
Day 2: Arc de Triomphe, Sainte Chapelle/Ile de la Cite, (Musee d'Orsay)
Day 3: Catacombs, Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame/Ile de la Cite, Latin Quarter
Day 4: Palace of Versailles, Eiffel Tower at night
Day 5: Notre Dame Towers, Eiffel Tower and picnic
Day 6: Louvre Museum
Here's a map marking all the places we went:
We walked a lot, all over Paris, and it was lovely. The food was great, though it lacked variety. I love the atmosphere where you can sit at a cafe/bistro/restaurant for as long as you want without interruption. People can sit for hours, people watching, simply enjoying themselves or with someone else, over a cup of expresso.
Expresso, croissants, baguettes, crepes, and ham and cheese were aplenty.
My favorite place was the Louvre (are you surprised?), Versailles, Notre Dame, and Latin Quarter. I love the history and architecture of these places. And the latter because there was so much food.
I can totally see myself living in Paris. In the meantime, see Paris another time and more to come later!
